Agricultural Advisory Committee

The Town of Lima is committed to supporting the viability of agriculture as an industry and to protection the land base needed to support farms.  Lima is fortunate to have an abundance of prime, productive soils that provide jobs and income for our residents.  Good stewardship of the land is essential to the productivity and longevity of Lima’s farms.  Agriculture enhances the quality of life for all Lima residents by contributing to a vibrant economy, maintaining open space, providing environmental benefits, and supplying the food and fiber essential to our lives.

In 2009, the Town Board appointed an Agricultural Advisory Committee to develop a local Agriculture and Farmland Protection Plan.  Following adoption of this plan in 2009, the Town Board asked the Committee to act on a provision in the Plan to recommend revisions to the Town’s zoning regulations as they pertain to agriculture.  The Committee is currently completing this project.
