Petition for Implementation of Traffic Calming Measures in the Town of Lima at the South and West approaches to the Village

Date: 05/04/2026 Petition Sponsor: Brian Smith, Co-Sponsors: Walt and Karen Fritz

It is the desire of the residents of the Town and Village of Lima to have safe and reasonable

vehicular traffic speeds for the safety and wellbeing of our children, neighbors and visitors.

To that end, we request the following traffic calming measures to help ensure that traffic

traveling though the Village of Lima has calmed to meet the 30 mph or less posted speed

limits within the Village.

We request implementation of the following traffic calming tool(s):

Reduced speed zones of no more than 45pmh approaching the Village of Lima from the

South on Lake Ave (State Rt 15a) beginning at or around 2180 Lake Ave and no more than

40mph from the West on Main Street (State Rt 5&20) beginning at or around 6963 W. Main

per the attached conceptual plans dated (05/04/2026).

We request that any required traffic studies be undertaken to assess the observed need for

the requested traffic calming measures. We request that the Town and Village of Lima

governments work with Livingston County Traffic Safety Board and the New York State

Department of Transportation and any other applicable organization, department or group

to further this initiative.
